City Life In A Day: Chilly April Mornings

I don’t mean that the people around here are cold and nasty. More to do with this being the ‘cruelest month’ – warm one day, then frosty the next morning, and chilly April showers to follow.

Walking down Brick Lane through clouds of street-food steam and listening to a delightful Babel of different languages, I noticed the one thing that everyone had in common: layering.

Thick layers piled on top of each other with over sized jackets. From sheepskin to leather to cotton to polyester!

So what exactly is layering and how is it done? Well, it’s a style that’s not only cosy and warm BUT it also gives your outfit a bit more personality – enough to fast track you away from tired and cold towards bright and brisk.

To start layering you will need basics such as grey long sleeve t-shirts, jackets (leather, denim.. whichever you prefer), or a coat. You will then need a scarf, jumper or hoodie to team with this.

Mixing all the above and adding either some chunky jewellery or some delicate earrings and a neat up-do, will make for a warm but stylish on trend East London look.

Gives us all something to do while the showers continue and another morning dawns without Spring having stayed overnight!
