Emma Brand finds she has become a celebrity magnet – they just keep walking towards her.
Who would think that going for a Sunday afternoon walk round the local park could result in spotting so many celebrities?
Well, when it’s Sport Relief weekend and you are in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, the chances are vastly increased.
Within about five minutes we had met Greg James, Danny Dyer, Jay McGuiness with Aliona Vilani, Danny-Boy Hatchard (Eastenders’ Lee Carter), and Newton Faulkner. The had all completed a fun run, and Newton later admitted on Instagram that he ran seven miles instead of six because he missed the turning and did some of the route again.
Alex Reid was also spotted walking around and enjoying the activities with friends and family.
Greg James was nice enough to come over for a chat after he heard the person next to me speaking in a familiar Norfolk accent. He took a selfie with us before going off to do interviews.
Other activities in the park included a photo booth, face painting, a skipping arena, zip wire, ball pit, cycle skills and safety. Also represented were West Ham FC, Velcro flywall, British Airways flight experience and curling (how curling goes with flying, I don’t know). You could also learn about the fight against malaria, rambling, participate in Guinness World Record title attempts, meet Timmy from Timmy Time TV show and over try 15 other sports.
But it was the celebrities that got this girl’s pulses racing.
This year Sport Relief raised over £56 million.
