Ben Smith talks to the wrestler about facing Rhia O’Reilly in Colchester…

Canadian independent wrestler Addy Starr has promised brutality and controversy when she takes on Rhia O’Reilly at the Liquid & Envy Nightclub in Colchester on Saturday.

Starr and O’Reilly have already battled one another numerous times this year, and ‘The Queen of Crazy’ insists that it’s only going to get more extreme.

“Rhia and I are no strangers to each other. We already know we’re going to do something brutal, now we’re just going to push our limits even further. It’s going to be carnage,” said Starr.

Starr takes on ‘The Fighting Irish’ in one of two women’s matches on the night. There is also an intergender match on the card – but the 26-year-old is keen to prove that she is capable of putting on a classic with anybody.

“I would be lying if I said there wasn’t added pressure,” Starr admitted.

“Both the women’s matches on this show have pressure to perform, and show that we’re doing female matches not because we’re not good enough to work the guys – but because we are good enough to have great matches with anyone and everyone.

“I’ve been the girl on a show doing an intergender match with a women’s match on the show – and it’s an easy spot to be in. You know people will like your match, and it’s not hard to get them invested in it.”

Kay Lee Ray occupies that spot, on this occasion. The TNA British Boot Camp 2 finalist issued an open challenge on YouTube – duly accepted by Jimmy Havoc.

Havoc promised to make the ‘Hardcore Daredevil’ bleed in the adults-only event on Saturday night – an environment that Starr thrives in.

“I’m very accustomed to performing on adults-only events.

“I personally think it brings out the best in me because I am kind of a crude and inappropriate person at times. I love doing things that shock people, and usually it tends to be because of how brutal and violent I am.

“Wrestling is about storytelling, and usually the stories that get the most response are the slightly controversial ones.”

The other all-female match on the show pits another Boot Camp finalist – Nikki Storm – against XWA debutant Pollyanna Peppers.

There’s plenty to be excited about on the men’s side, too.

Doug Williams and Brian Kendrick – who faced off for the X-Division Championship in their TNA days – will reignite their feud in Colchester.

The Brit defeated Kendrick at TNA Slammiversary VIII, but the former WWE Tag Team Champion will look to exert revenge.

Also on the card is the man Kendrick held the Tag Team gold with: Paul London. The veteran high-flyer is involved in a triple threat with Martin Stone – released by WWE this year – and ‘The Beast of Belfast’ Damo O’Connor.

The two remaining singles matches advertised will see Paul Robinson tackle Wild Boar, and Sam ‘Slam’ Nayler versus ‘Wonderkid’ Jonny Storm.

Plus, there’s tag team action as Sumerian Death Squad (Michael Dante and Tommy End) team up against ‘Bollywood Dream’ RJ Singh, and ‘Dazzling’ Darrell Allen – The Bhangra Knights.
