The organisers behind the world famous Coachella are launching a new festival in London’s Victoria Park in May 2018.

Opening with a three-day festival headlined by London’s simplistic pop trio The XX – who flourished this year following the release of their third studio album I See You – the event will stretch over 10 days from May 28th to June 3rd. American alt-rockers The National have been announced as another headliner, supported by The War on Drugs, Future Islands and Warpaint.

The XX set for the I See You tour, here at the Øya Festival.

The park has previously been the location of festivals such as Lovebox and Field Day. Beating down the competitors, AEG and Goldenvoice now have the exclusive right to hosts events in the park. Whether this will have a positive effect on the flourishing cultural life in the park is yet to be seen, but judging by the line-up, it looks good.

The National stated that: “After a thrilling four sold out shows at the Eventim Apollo in September, we are excited to take over Victoria Park next summer. We are already thinking about ways to make this more than just a show…”

The council seems more than happy about the change. In the words of Tower Hamlets mayor John Biggs:

“The council is pleased to be working with AEG, who were selected following a rigorous procurement process to deliver some exciting events in 2018 which can be enjoyed by local people, Londoners, and visitors from across the UK”.

Tickets to All Points East go on sale on Friday 27 October.
