Ryan Walmsley reports on an exciting development…

Ebbsfleet United have revealed plans for a multi-million pound revamping of their PHB Stadium as they look to move towards cementing a place in the Football League.

Since Dr Abdulla Al-Humaidi took over in May 2013, the Kent club have seen huge investment in the playing staff and now the club is expanding off the pitch too.

The plans were revealed in front of 350 fans on Monday night at Stonebridge Road with the redeveloped stadium housing 6,000 fans, with 2,000 seats.

The current Liam Daish Stand is the main focus of the renovations. The stand is said to be at the end of its usage according to safety officers and its replacement will take up almost half of the £8m budget. £3.5m will be splashed in order to erect a new main stand which will be home to commercial, press and corporate facilities.

The Plough End will be a mixture of terracing and seating whilst both the main stand and the Swanscombe End will be standing room only.

Fleet vice-chairman Peter Varney told the official website: “We believe the plans will be the catalyst for the regeneration of Northfleet and the stadium has been designed to make it a focal point for the local community.”

The ambitious Conference South have added seven players to their squad since the transfer window opened as they look to mount a play-off charge. With the new stadium in the pipeline, Ebbsfleet will soon have the facilities to match their on-field ambitions.
