Simon Eaves reports on another miserable result for the O’s…

Balint Bajner was the only goalscorer as Notts County beat Leyton Orient on a cold Tuesday evening, recording only their second win in twelve. The loss for Leyton Orient leaves last season’s play-off finalists rock bottom of the table.

Bajner struck the winner for County just after 20 minutes. Curtis Thompson broke down the right-hand side beating the full back and crossed the ball in, and the Hungarian striker had time to turn and did so superbly before firing the ball just right of the centre of the goal, leaving debutant loanee goalkeeper Alex Cisak no chance to force a save.

The travelling side should have gone 1-0 up as soon within four minutes of the first half. Garry Thompson broke into an enormous hole left in the Orient defence but he scuffed his shot wide of Cisak’s goal.

This loss leaves the O’s still looking for their first win of 2015. They never really looked like beating the Magpies keeper Roy Carroll, and despite pressing in the final 15 they never created a clear-cut chance. The home fans booed at the final whistle, expressing their displeasure at Orient’s relegation worries.
