Bari End Season On High Note

Matthew Dean reports on London Bari’s victorious final game of the season..

London Bari finished their campaign with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Burnham Ramblers, and as a result sealed an eighth place finish in the Essex Senior League.

Both teams struggled with heavy rain, with few chances created by either side in in the first half. The clearest opening chance came to the hosts in the 25th minute when Adrian Sanchez’s through-ball over the top fell to Daryl Merson who he blazed his shot wide of the post.

Burnham’s lacklustre approach to the game posed no real threat and produced very few scoring opportunities in the second half as the heavens opened.

Bari eventually took the lead in the 57th minute through Adrian Sanchez, who with his back to goal, took a sublime first touch that allowed him to turn and instantly flick the ball over the outstretched leg of Burnham defender, Connor Hardie and place the ball into the bottom left-hand corner.

The second goal for London Bari had its fair share of luck, when Castillo Herrera floated in a 30-yard free-kick and saw the pace and dip of the ball deceive everyone in the box, and fly off the wet pitch to find the net.

With 10 minutes to go, Bari added a third. A failed Ramblers clearance left the ball to Hedayo Adetunbe who smashed his shot onto the crossbar and it rebounded into the net to seal their win.
