Barking Continue their Run of Form

Barking put in a strong performance for an impressiv 2-0 away win over league rivals Waltham Forest with goals coming from John Bricknell and Omari Delgado. Jordan Parsons reports.

The Blues have put the disappointment of last season behind them as they continue to dominate the Essex Senior League.

Having not played a league game for 11 days and losing to Canvey Island midweek, the Blues went out to make a statement to their fans.

James Peagram had a chance to extend his fantastic goal tally which currently stands at 18 in 19 games, as he hit the bar from the edge of the box, providing early danger signs for the home side.

In Control

The visitors took the lead through Bricknell after Forest’s defence failed to clear and he thumped home for his ninth goal of the season.

However it was not plain sailing as Joe Pearman was shown an unnecessary red shortly before the interval for dissent.

The second goal of the day came from Delgado who continues his purple patch, when he broke on the counter and placed it through the legs of Rhys Madden.

Dangerous

Peagram had a chance to extend the Blues lead after a free kick was floated into the box but he could only smash his header onto the bar.

Barking are now two games unbeaten in the Essex Senior League and go five points clear with three games in hand over Southend Manor.

Barking are looking to continue their run of form against National League south Chelmsford City in the fourth round of the Essex Senior league Cup.
