Black Panther Main Cast

It’s here and it’s brilliant! Black Panther has finally arrived on the big screen with a shell-shocking storyline which forces you to the edge of your seat to cheer on the big cat from Africa.

The lastest Marvel movie, which stars a predominantly black cast, was released in cinemas in the UK on February 13th, and according to Screen Daily immediately became the year’s biggest grossing opener of the year so far. I went to see the film at the Vue Cinema in Wood Green, where some of the fans even dressed up.

For those who are not familiar with the story, Black Panther is part of the Marvel Universe superhero stable, and made his first apprence in Fantastic Four back in 1966. Leading actor Chadwick Boseman, starring as Black Panther, made a cameo appearance in Captain America’s: Civil War in 2016, in which he joined forces with the Marvel team to try and and avenge his father’s death.

Following the death of Black Panther’s father T’Chaka’s in a civil war, T’Challa is crowned king of Wakanda – a ficitonal East African nation – and is sworn to nurture and protect his people. But of course, as in all Marvel movies, there is danger ahead, in the form of villains such as Klaw (Andy Serkis), and Erik Killmonger (Michael B. Jordan) who is a royal blood relative to T’Challa and wants to overthrow him.

The film mixes heroism with comedy, and punchy one-liners with tear inducing moments that may leave you reaching for your tissues. It is so engrossing that you feel as if you are actually in Wakanda.

Despite the odd dodgy African accent, it’s definitely the must-see film of 2018. An indication of how entertaining it is is that my mother managed to stay awake for the whole movie, which is extremely rare for her. I’m looking forward to see more of Black Panther in the future, including when he fights with the rest of Marvel team in the movie Avengers: Infinity War due out in April. Maybe they should develop a Black Panther game as well! Let’s wait and see. Great Job!
