Spillane Leaves The Mead After First Defeat In Ten

Casey Cooper-Fiske reports on Thamesmead’s split from their current manager…

Thamesmead Town manager, Terry Spillane has left his position by mutual consent after Saturday’s 4-3 defeat to Maldon and Tiptree.

The defeat was the Mead’s first in 10 games, however the result meant that the Mead were highly unlikely to finish in the playoff places.

A club statement said that the decision was made following meetings after the 4-3 defeat. Chairman Phil Bowden Brown said in the statement, “I’d like put on record my thanks Terry for all he’s done during his reign as manager of TTFC, and I wish him well for the future on behalf of everyone at the Club.” he also added that “Terry will always be welcome at the SCT.” .

Spillane also made a comment in the statement saying, “I’ve enjoyed my time at TTFC” and thanked all the staff that had worked under him during his tenure.

He went on to thank the fans and saying that he is sure they’ll be “Magnificient [for] the new manager, whoever he may be”.

Thamesmead are yet to appoint a successor.
