O’s loanee praises team display as Sebastian Liggenstorfer reports…

Leyton Orient defender Shaun Brisley hailed the O’s 1-0 victory at Notts County as the perfect result.

The 26-year-old’s first goal for the club on the 76th minute was enough to ensure Kevin Nolan’s side came away from Meadow Lane with all three points.

“A 1-0 win away from home is the perfect result for a defender,” said Brisley after the game.

“It’s a great result away from home. We set out to get the three points. We had to dig deep at times, but you have to do that in most away games.”

Solid performance

The Peterborough loanee has now kept two clean sheets out of three matches alongside captain Mathieu Baudry following his arrival in January, and admitted conditions were difficult to deal with.

“They were tough conditions in the first half, the wind was coming at us. It was hard to get distance on my headers. This is only going to benefit us for the rest of the season,” he explained.

Despite the conditions, Brisley – who made his 200th career league start at Meadow Lane – was happy with the team’s effort.

“The performance overall was good. We did not play as much football as we would have liked, but we put the ball in behind them,”

It wasn’t the most entertaining of games but it’s a match that “could make all the difference at the end of the season.” Bristly added.
