The 36-year-old had a successful six year spell whilst at MK Don’s where he led his men to automatic promotion in the Sky Bet Championship. When Robinson took charge of Milton Keynes at the age of 30, he was the youngest manager in the Football League.
In a statement on the Addick’s website Robinson said, “I am honoured to have been appointed manager of Charlton and can’t wait to get started, joining such a huge club with a large passionate fanbase is a really exciting proposition.”
“I’ve inherited a talented squad and I’ll be doing everything I can to get the club back into the Championship as soon as possible.”
Outstanding Candidate
Charlton chief executive Katrien Meire is excited about the appointment, “He (Robinson) is a very talented, forward-thinking manager.”
Meire went on to say, “Karl has vast experience of League One and, having won promotion just two seasons ago, we believe he has the necessary credentials to lead the club forward.”
Robinson’s first game in charge is set to be against his former side MK Dons in an FA Cup second-round tie on Saturday, 3 December.
