Simon Eaves previews the forthcoming fixture…

Charlton face Norwich City in a Championship clash on Tuesday 10th February. The Addicks will be looking for their first win in 12 and their first three points at the Valley since 21st October when they beat Bolton 2-1.

The Addicks come into this on the back of a 3-1 loss away to Middlesbrough. The visiting side travel in a much more confident mood after hammering bottom side Blackpool at home 4-0. The hosts will have to be wary of Gary Hooper who scored a hat-trick in that game.

Charlton’s Milos Veljkovic is out of the clash. The 19-year-old Tottenham loanee injured his shoulder after just 34 minutes in the weekend defeat at Middlesbrough.

Charlton have been proven hard to beat at the Valley this campaign, only two defeats all season, but just four wins. With eight draws, including one against Rotherham in their last outing at home, Guy Luzon will want his side to turn these draws into victories.

With all these draws Charlton are only six points off safety. A win against Norwich could see them climb to as high as 15th if results go for them during the midweek round of matches.

The Canaries have only five losses on the road this season. Alex Neil’s men have managed seven wins and three draws. This could prove to be a tricky test for a Charlton side that can’t seem to get those crucial three points.

A win for the Canaries could see them move into the play-off places if Brentford manage to beat Watford on Tuesday night.

In the reverse fixture in late September, the Addicks won 1-0 at Carrow Road. Johnnie Jackson was the scorer on that day with a late deflected strike.

This will be the 80th clash between the two sides. Charlton have the edge winning 34 of the ties. Norwich have won 26, and there have been 19 draws.
