Romford registered their third consecutive win after coming from behind to defeat Norfolk side Wroxham 2-1 away from home.

Romford came into the tie in good form having won their last two fixtures. Wroxham, on the other hand, are bottom of the Ryman north table and haven’t won a game since the end of January.

However, it was the hosts who began the game the brighter out the two sides, as Romford found it difficult to get to grips with the sloppy, indifferent surface at Trafford Park.

Wroxham, as a result, dominated the majority of the first half, and in the 20th minute of the game made their pressure count as they broke the deadlock through midfielder Connor Deeks. Yachtsmen’s forward Schaar skipped past two Boro defenders before picking out Deeks for a half volley.

Pounced

However, within two minutes of the restart, Boro’s were back on terms through top goal-scorer Chindu McKenzie. He pounced on his own rebounded effort to score his 28th goal of the campaign.

Romford were now on the front foot and almost took the lead through midfielder Jamie Dicks, whose powerful free-kick was tipped just around the post.

With only a few minutes remaining, forward Nick Reynolds was thrown into the action as Romford looked to snatch a late winner, a decision which paid off almost immediately.

Reynolds latched on to a clever pass from Dicks but was hacked down before he could shoot, however before the referee could blow for a penalty, the ball fell invitingly for Ayo Olukoga to score his second goal of the season.

Paul Martin’s men are now 15th in the Ryman North table, surpassing the elusive 50-points mark for another season.
