Dagenham aim for third successive win

Simon Eaves previews the weekend’s fixture…

Dagenham & Redbridge face a tricky home tie against Southend United this weekend at Victoria Road.

The Daggers come into the game win only one loss in their last six, but winning their last two. Southend, on the other hand, travel to their fellow Essex side with only two defeats from their previous 10 away fixtures.

Dagenham will be hoping to welcome back goalkeeper Mark Cousins who was taken off with a head injury in the home win against Hartlepool.

Southend have no injury concerns and go into the game as favourites with the hope a win can push their promotion chances with 11 games remaining. The Daggers are nine points clear of danger – another win will all but secure safety for the East London side.

The head to head between the two favours the home side. The Daggers have won six with Southend winning three. The sides have played out a draw 3 times. The previous meeting between the two saw Southend’s Cian Bolger get a straight red card for clattering Cousins and then following this up by trying to head-butt Labadie.

There will be over approximately 1,400 Blues fans in attendance for this Sky Bet League Two fixture as demand was significant for the tasty clash between these two sides.
