Daggers Beat a Path To Barrow

Dagenham & Redbridge travel away from home this weekend to take on Barrow in the National League. Jack Cronin reports.

John Still recently signed a two-year extension on his existing contract and will look to see his team push on, following an emphatic win against promotion rivals Forest Green Rovers.

Young and energetic

Since Still’s return to the club in 2016, the team has transformed into a young and energetic looking side – working together to mount a successful promotion charge. However, with 10 games remaining, the squad can’t be complacent.

Captain Scott Doe has hailed his late winner against Rovers as the most important of his Dagenham career. Speaking to the Barking and Dagenham Post, the 28 year old said, “[It] was a good performance against a good side, but we made them look quite average.”

Character

The east Londoners showed enormous character after Jordan Maguire-Drew’s opener was cancelled out, and will be desperate for a similar display against Barrow, who lost 2-0 away at Eastleigh last weekend.

On the other hand, Barrow are currently sitting in  eighth position in the league and will need the win to get closer to the play-offs. However, their form recently has been poor, only winning one in their last five games.

A win could see the Daggers on 70 points and snapping at the coat-tails of Lincoln City. It’s becoming a fascinating climax to the campaign as a host of teams bid for promotion to the English Football League (EFL).
