Daggers Seek A Fifth

Dagenham & Redbridge look to make it five victories out of five against Southport, as Jack Cronin reports.

Dagenham & Redbridge provided spectacular late drama when Jordan Maguire-Drew struck in the 94th minute to beat Chester in the National League last weekend. Manager John Still will be hoping to make it five victories in a row against Southport on Saturday. However as the title run-in heats up, there are bound to be more twists in the tale.

Speaking to the Barking and Dagenham Post, Still highlighted that he is no stranger to late drama: “There will be a lot more games like the one with Chester. The season we went up through the play-offs and into League One, we scored some late goals then.”

Southport, under Manager Andy Preece, are currently 20th in the league and will be the third consecutive team from the north-west to face the Daggers, having faced Tranmere Rovers and Chester in previous weeks. The Victoria Road side will hope their match with the Sandgrounders takes a similar turn as they go for the clean-sweep, having defeated both Rovers and the Seals.

The Daggers are three points behind leaders Lincoln City and will be buoyed by the news of Scott Doe’s one-year contract extension. The experienced defender, 28, is in his second spell at the club. He returned last summer following a season away at Boreham Wood.

Kick-off: 15:00 on Saturday 11th February at Haig Avenue.
