Denham Hat-Trick Gives UEL An Emphatic Three Points

UEL Men's 3rd team put in a superb performance as the won 7-3 away from home against the University Of The Arts in their first game after the Christmas break.

Conor Denham bagged a hat-trick and goals from Andrew Kinoshi, Kieran Baldwin, Simon Sirobe and Dyron Suazo helped secure a brilliant win for UEL

UEL did however, start slowly and found themselves behind with just five minutes gone. The ball fell to an Arts midfielder on the edge of the box and he produced a delicate chipped finish out of the reach of Keola Paredes.

The visitors didn’t have to wait long to respond though, as Kinoshi rifled home a superb free kick that went in off the crossbar.

UEL’s second came as a result of good work down the right when Daniel Levin beat his man and delivered a low cross and Denham grabbed his first of the game, finishing cooly after taking a touch in the area.

UEL had chances to add to this lead in the first half but Sirobe’s curling effort hit the post and bounced clear to safety.

The elusive third UEL goal came 10 minutes into the second half when Baldwin was brought down in the area and Denham scored his second from the penalty spot.

Three quickly became four when Baldwin got himself on the scoresheet. The midfielder produced a good finish on the edge of the box when the ball broke kindly for him.

This gave UEL breathing space and the game was a as good as won when Arts scored their first consolation goal of the second half. The Arts striker produced a good turn and finished well when through on goal.

This gave the home side a glimmer of hope but UEL quickly put an end to this as they added a fifth, Denham again scoring from the penalty spot after Levin was caught in the face in the area.

UEL added a sixth with 15 minutes to go as Suazo scored a brilliant goal from 20 yards as his shot went straight into the top corner from the angle of the box.

Sirobe scored UEL’s final goal of the game as he was played through and calmly slotted the ball into the bottom corner. There was still time Arts to get a third goal as a deflected free kick made its way into the back of the net, but UEL fully deserved their win and controlled the game for long periods.

After the game, Denham spoke to Rising East about scoring a hat-trick.

“It was good to get my first goals of the season today and the hat-trick is obviously a bonus.

“I thought we were fantastic today and the lads were crucial to the win.”

UEL now face Tottenham Hotspur foundation men’s 1sts at home next week as they look to mount a title charge in the back end of the season.
