DiNunno’s Return Threatens Lions

After a two-week break coach Nigel Lloyd's team are well rested and look to resume their winning streak against bottom of the table Cheshire Phoenix this evening. Connor Mackay reports.

The Copper Box fills up with excitement as the Lions get ready to play

The London Lions host the high-soaring Cheshire Phoenix side after beating Plymouth 99-88 at home on the 10th March. Lions Forward Navid Niktash and Guard Alex Owumi displayed a shooting masterclass edging the Lions to a win coming off of a three-game losing skid.

The Lions look to add another win to their tally to gain a higher position in the Championship table before heading into the playoffs.

Phoenix Going For The Triple

Elsewhere in the league on the same night, the Phoenix shocked the league with an impressive win over second in the table Newcastle Eagles 103-89.

Phoenix come into tonight’s game with a two-game winning streak under their belt after defeating the top seeded Newcastle Eagles, then beating Sheffield Sharks two-days later.

DiNunno Returns

Guard Mike DiNunno for the Cheshire Phoenix made his return to the team in their last game against Sheffield on the 12th March sparking a huge run for the team, finishing with a stupendous 29 points.

Cheshire look more confident after DiNunno’s return and look to press the Lions for a win on Friday carrying on their good run.

Upcoming Playoffs

The Lions will have to avoid another third quarter stint as they look to finish the season on a high and get the placement they are working for to play a good team in the playoffs.

There are now eight games remaining for the London Lions with a tough schedule ahead before the playoff run begins.

The Lions could potentially finish third or even higher if they win the majority of their games.

The London side will look to carry on their strong play on the court in the hope of beating Cheshire.

Just two days later, the Lions will travel to Manchester to play the Giants who are looking to climb up the table from bottom spot.
