Diving Into Social Media

Tom Daley is tethered to a series of YouTube posts, according to Emma Brand.

Daley

Tom Daley has been a household name since he first competed for England in the 2008 Beijing Olympics. He has been a world champion diver and has a bronze Olympic medal from the 2012 London Olympics. Although his location is given on Twitter as Plymouth, his hometown, he is currently living in East London, near the Stratford aquatic centre.

Tom maintains a loyal following on his social media accounts, including Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and YouTube.

His YouTube subscribers have been seen Tom preparing for this year’s Olympics in a series of videos called Road to Rio. This series has shown all the highs and lows, including the injuries Tom has sustained and how he powered through them.

Over the past few weeks Tom has been uploading videos of his #daleyroutine, in which he shows his fans how to tone up and get fit. They are proving to be popular, and it’s not just because he is scantily clad. Not if this serious message is anything to go by: “Here’s a brand new series of ‪#DaleyRoutine for you all! This time it is a full body workout! https://youtu.be/7PJF_dUB87o”

As well as all this work, Tom still finds time to fundraise for charities “Please donate to a great cause and help ‪@the_human_pear raise money for ‪@ACTcharity by shaving all of his hair off”, he says. and spend some alone time with his fiancé, Dustin Lance Black. Although he mainly keeps his relationship private, on their third anniversary he did say a couple of words: “ 3 Y E A R S  ‪@DLanceBlack”.

Tom has also been getting his fans involved by asking them to make him a new cover photo for his Twitter account. “1 day left til I pick the winner of the cover photo competition…I see you’ve been getting VERY creative! ‪#COVERDALEY”.

Going by the amount he posts on YouTube, if T.D. ever gets fed up with diving then his next career could already be lined up for him.
