Full Stop

Nika Jazaee says stop right now in the name of good coffee.

Nika cafe size

Yes, make a full stop when you get close to this café on Brick Lane. Get in and order directly from the guy standing by the espresso machine at the entrance. The young barista will greet you nicely as you pass him to get to the seating area. It’s super friendly in here, so the service is great.

The interior looks like they have crossed a pub with an organic hipster café. The wallpapered ceiling and subdued light combine to produce a mellow feeling. Packed with Formica tables, the interior has been designed with 1950s diner booths in mind.

Full Stop has the tastiest coffee in East London – full stop. The espresso is velvety and juicy with a deeply cushioned sweetness.

Almost everything on the menu is homemade. I ordered avocado on sourdough served with sundried tomatoes and smoked salmon. I received a decent sized portion for £7.

The music is modern rock, played loud, i.e. not your mainstream café muzak, and not really suitable accompaniment to laptop working (though I spy one guy sitting in the corner with his). As an alternative to the rock music diet, some nights they do pizza with electro to follow.

4 tomatoes out of 5
