Further Frustration For Genesis Futsal Club

Dan Grimes catches up with Carlos Codinha on Genesis Futsal Club's postponed match against London Helvecia.

Genesis Futsal Club saw their away fixture to London City Futsal postponed at the weekend.

The two clubs were set to play on Sunday, but the match was called off when London City’s venue became unavailable on the Sunday, and the FA wouldn’t authorise the game being played a day earlier due to a referee training day.

The Coaches View

Genesis coach Carlos Codinha has admitted to feeling some frustration over the decision.
“We would have had a full squad for the first time this season, so to see the game called off like that was a bit of an anti-climax.”

“We’ve had many injuries, and some players have had international duty, so this was the first time everyone was available to play.”

This has meant Genesis have endured a tough start to the season, sitting bottom of the league with just a single point. However, they do have two games in hand on Tranmere Rovers Futsal, who are just a point ahead.

Tough Game

With the revised date for the London City Futsal fixture yet to be known, Genesis will turn their attentions to this weekends fixture, at home to second-placed London Helvecia.

“It will be an extremely difficult match” said Codinha, “They are the Champions, they have played in the Champions League, and they are full of excellent players, led by an excellent coach.”

London Helvicia will provide a huge challenge for Genesis with the East London side still searching for their first win of the campaign.
