Katy Sharp-Watson previews the London Palestine Film Festival.

For the tenth year in succession, the Barbican Arts Centre is hosting the London Palestine Film Festival. The festival, which opens this weekend, includes documentaries, dramas and short films.

Friday night is opening night, featuring a gala screening of Najwa Najjar’s thriller Eyes of a Thief, set on the West Bank and starring Khaled Abol Naga and Souad Massi.

Other highlights include an evening of three short films offering different perspectives on the city of Ramallah. Also in the programme, Canadian director Tim Schwab’s documentary Cinema Palestine asks what it means to be a Palestinian filmmaker in an age of conflict.

The festival, which runs until 4th December, celebrates new Palestinian filmmaking talent, and examines the complexities and atrocities of war. There are numerous director/ actor Q&As.
