Hammers Await FA Cup Fate

The Hammers will be looking for an easy tie tonight in the FA Cup draw as Dean Ammi reports.

West Ham will discover their opponents in the FA Cup tonight with the third round draw taking place from 7pm.

Fresh start

The Hammers, who have a relegation battle on their hands, may view the most prestigious domestic Cup competition in the world as a welcome break from the pressures of the Premier League.

Ball number 43 is the figure that West Ham fans will be keeping an eye on, with the third round ties taking place at the beginning of January.

Last season saw the East Londoners drawn at home to Manchester City, and a 5-0 thrashing at the London Stadium ended any hopes of silverware for Slaven Bilic.

Look out for Lions

Another ball West Ham fans will be keeping an eye on is number 27, which would pair David Moyes’ men against local rivals Millwall in what would surely be a challenging game for the police.

The lowest ranked sides remaining in the competition are Hereford and Slough Town, from level 7 of the footballing pyramid. However, with the 20 Premier League teams and 24 Championship teams entering at this stage, the Irons are sure to be in for a tough tie.

West Ham have won the FA Cup three times, in 1964, 1975 and 1980, and this current campaign could be the start of a fourth. The draw will be broadcast live on BBC2.
