Hammers Loan Round Up

Holly Davies reports on the young Hammers gaining experience on loan.

Forward Marcus Browne, currently on loan at Wigan Athletic, was absent from the matchday squad during a 1-0 defeat to Sheffield Wednesday. However the 19-year-old did make an appearance in the FA Cup against Manchester United, coming on in the last 10 minutes.

Josh Cullen saw 80 minutes of action for Bradford City as they were held 2-2 against Gillingham. The weekend before Cullen help Bradford on their way to a 2-1 victory against Oldham Athletic, providing an assist after 14 minutes. Oldham needlessly conceded a corner, and when Cullen returned the ball from the right, Vincelot headed in from six yards.

Meanwhile, George Dobson was involved for the final 10 minutes at the Bescot Stadium in Walsall’s 2-1 victory over Northampton.

Jaanai Gordon provided a crucial goal for League Two side Newport Town, as the Welshmen drew 1-1 with Cheltenham Town. Making only his second appearance for the Exiles, Gordon was introduced with 22 minutes remaining. Three minutes into injury time, the 21-year-old coolly slotted home in a crowded penalty area.

West Ham summer signing Toni Martinez played 80 minutes in Oxford United’s clash against local rivals Swindon, helping the visitors to a 2-1 win. The Spaniard made his first appearance for the club coming off the bench in an FA Cup tie against Newcastle United, scoring on his debut .

Norwegian winger Martin Samuelsen was introduced with four minutes left on the clock during Peterborough’s 3-0 win at Port Vale. Samuelsen had played a full 90 minutes in the previous fixture, a 4-0 loss to MK Dons.

Reece Oxford was an unused sub for Championship side Reading as they drew 2-2 away to Ipswich. However manager Jaap Stan told BBC Sport: “Oxford gives us an extra defender in the squad, he’s a young and very talented player and he has the quality that we need in how we play.”
