Johan Caney-Bryan: “We’re going to do the double”

Kieran Baldwin speaks to UEL forward Johan Caney-Bryan on his sides League success and their Cup ambitions…

The University of East London first team striker Johan Caney-Bryan believes his team have more than enough about them to win the Cup and add to their league success.

Having secured the league title last week, with a 2-1 home victory over the University of Herefordshire 1sts at Hackney Marshes.

Caney-Bryan labelled it a great achievement: “This season has been a great experience, as unlike the two previous titles we’ve made it to the play offs.”

UEL’s first team now turn their focus to Cup action, as they face the league side they claimed the title off in the last 16.

No time for complacency

The East London side, head into the game as firm favourites having beat Herefordshire in the two previous meetings in the league this season.

In the previous round, UEL overcame the University of Cardiff 1st in the last 32 with a 4-2 victory, whilst the hosts Herefordshire won 2-1 against the University of Hartpury 2nd.

Having won the league Caney-Bryan knows that UEL’s can’t take anything for granted and the upcoming tie on Wednesday is an important one: “ We have beaten them twice this season but we cannot be complacent.”

The match takes place at Herefordshire Sports Village, with the tie kicking off at 2pm.

The winner of the match, will go on to face either the University of Birmingham 1st or the University of Essex 1st.
