The Lions get ready for tough challenge against Raiders

A valiant team effort by the Lions ended a three-game losing skid thanks to a 99-88 win against the Raiders in the race to the play-offs.

The Lions shot 50% from beyond the arc, with Alex Owumi getting a triple double, 15 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists. Zaire Taylor earned himself a double double – 10 assists along with an impressive 16 points.

Coach Lloyd’s side performed superbly in all quarters, leading each by a double-digit advantage.

Sweep

Navid Nikitash finished with 17 points alongside Kai Williams, who scored 16 points on the night, helping execute a four game sweep of the Raiders. Rashad Hassan scored 15 points accompanied by seven rebounds.

Plymouth Raider guard, Daryl Corletto made a comeback with 16 points and three steals, but his efforts were flushed out by the Lions who continued to shoot from the outside and connect in the key. The Lions finished with 52% in three-point field goal and 53% two-point field goal.

Power Forward, Rashad Hassan said: ‘’I think we just showed a lot of focus throughout the whole four quarters, usually around the third we lose energy and become complacent. But today we had our foot on the gas and everybody was locked in defensively.‘’

Fought  back

The Lions’ fast attack on the ball and successful fast breaks helped set the tempo for the entirety of the game. After suffering a defeat to Leeds last week the Lions fought back establishing an early first half lead with Alex Owumi connecting from beyond the arc three times.

The Lions ran off with the lead going into the second half.  Plymouth was denied any chances in the paint coming from strong defense, with tough rebounding allowing the home side to extend their lead and get a home win moving up in the table closer to clinching a place in the play offs.

The London lions will have a two-week break before they play their next game at home against Cheshire Phoenix who has just come off an impressive win against the Newcastle Eagles.
