Sead Dizdarevic previews the upcoming clash…

London Lions will meet the Newcastle Eagles in the BBL Play-off Final at the O2 Arena on Sunday 10th May with a 4pm tip-off time.

The London-based side qualified for the final after beating the Cheshire Phoenix 158-153 on aggregate. After a nervy second leg 85-77 defeat in Cheshire made it more tense but Vince Macaulay’s men prevailed courtesy of a clutch of free throws from Zaire Taylor.

Their opponents Newcastle Eagles got to the final by beating the Sheffield Sharks 209-168 on aggregate and will now be looking to add the BBL Play-off final trophy to claim a sweep of all the BBL silverware this season. (107)

During the regular season the Lions were unable to beat the Eagles on three occasions but have players like Andrew Sullivan and Taylor who have beaten the Eagles who competed in the previous two Playoff finals for their respective former teams and the prospect of a London team winning the trophy in their home city could make this a highly entertaining game.
