Ole Saue reports as England’s oldest handball extend their lead at the top of the Super 8 League, beating Manchester HC 27-22 in Copper Box Arena…

Several superb periods from London GD were enough to seal the 27-22 victory against Manchester HC who currently sit fifth in the Super 8 league. Eight goals from Fabian Cordes made him man of the match for the Londoners.

The home side went 4-0 up after just three minutes played, but Manchester managed to get into the game thanks to Minas, who played an extraordinary first half for the visitors.

It stood 7-7 on the scoreboard halfway through the first half, and after a time-out from London GD coach Juan Pedro Carrasco five minutes before the break, the reds scored five quick goals to go 14-11 up.

Lack of concentration, ball losses, and wasted penalties from Manchester cost them, and they never managed to get back into the game.

London GD continued their supremacy in the second half and were leading by seven goals after 53 minutes played.

Fernando Quintana was brilliant between the sticks for the home side, and his saves combined with great counter attacks were the key for London GD’s victory over Manchester HC.

London GD Handball’s next game is against Coventry Sharks on Tuesday April 14.
