He’s a Regular Guy and an Ordinary Joe, in Emma brand’s reading of David Beckham’s social media posts.
David Beckham is already a living legend. His right foot is the stuff of myth, as is his left foot come to think of it, and anyone without knowledge of him must have been living under a rock.
After a career in football that spanned decades and stretched across top flight teams such as Manchester United, LA Galaxy, Real Madrid, and, most notably, England, Beckham’s love of sport still shines through on his Facebook page, with him proudly saying “Enjoyed visiting the Sky Sports studio today to do a special show with Kirsty Gallacher can’t believe Sky Sports is nearly 25 years old. It’s been the home of many incredible sporting moments and some very personal ones for me also.”
David has become the face of many brands including Armani, Pepsi and H&M. No surprise, then, that he Tweets along the following lines: “This is one of my favourite outfits of the H&M collection. See the full #SelectedByBeckham range at http://hm.info/12luf”. He has also released his own fragrance Homme by David Beckham, which prompted him to say: “Excited to announce my ‘David Beckham: Classic Fragrance’ is now available in stores. Enjoy!”
Following his success with the ball Beckham is now equally adept at the commercial sport of self-promotion.
While dipping his fingers into a lot of pies in the advertising and fragrance world he still uses his time, money and fame to help charities. Beckham is a Goodwill Ambassador for UNICEF and a Patron of the Elton John Aids Foundation, as illustrated here: “Hello everyone, please tune in to watch my Documentary For The Love Of The Game, 6:30pm AEDT today on BBC UKTV! I had such an incredible time and met some truly inspirational people. UNICEF”
Since retiring from football in 2013 Beckham has become more of a family man. He has been married to Victoria since 1999, and both David and Victoria seem as loved up as ever. David shared his feelings for her in an Instagram post to mark Victoria’s birthday: “Happy birthday to this beautiful passionate woman. Have the most amazing day and let us spoil you because you deserve to be spoilt by your husband and our gorgeous children. In 42 years you have been able to achieve so much and it feels you are only just starting. Happy birthday we love you”.
‘We’ is a reference to he and the couple’s four children: Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz and Harper. Many of David’s social media posts include cute family pictures that show he’s enjoying parenthood and embarrassing his son, like any other parent would, such as: “Not sure if I’m a cool dad or if Brooklyn is thinking “seriously we have similar coats on dad”.”
On social media David comes across as so down to earth, you wouldn’t think he was one of the most celebrated individuals in the whole world.
