Match Preview: Enfield Town vs Barkingside

Alex Dibden previews Barkingside (13th) as they travel to Enfield (17th) on Saturday afternoon in the Essex Senior League. Kick off 3.00pm.

After being relegated from the Ryman League last season, Barkingside have struggled to get to grips with the Essex Senior League, sitting 13th after 31 games.

A double relegation does seem unlikely, but after The ‘Side recently had a six point deduction for fielding an ineligible player, a change of fortune is crucial to save what could be another dire season.

Barkingside will be hoping to begin their resurgence when they face Enfield at Barrows Farm on Saturday. Coming off the back of 1-2 loss away to Sawbridgeworth Town, anything but a win could spell danger for the North-East London outfit, with the E’s sitting 10 points behind with five games in hand.

Barkingside have won four of their last 10 games, with Enfield winning just three. Enfield have suffered some heavy defeats in recent games, losing 5-0 to Barking, and 5-1 to Redbridge just five days later.

Key Players

Barkingside will be hoping top goal scorers Luke With and David Laird will be able to add to their tally for the season. With will be hoping to make it two in two and take his tally for the season to 18, whilst Laird will be hoping to keep his good form up following a hat-trick at Sporting Bengal two weeks ago.

Enfield top goalscorer Dernell Wynter will also be looking to rekindle the form which has seen the striker find the net 12 times this season with five assists. Wynter is without a goal in six games with only one goal in 2017.
