Following a heartbreaking defeat against Queen Mary University, the UEL Phoenix look to bounce back when they face the Greenwich Mariners on Sunday.

Heartbreak

The Phoenix took the lead 20-0 early in the Queen Mary game but suffered a huge collapse as their opponents mounted a devastating comeback to win the game 30-32.

Jeremy Snyder, the Quarterback for UEL, said “The last game was a tough loss, but also a great learning experience for us. After a strong start, going up 20-0 early in the game, we had a few moments that just didn’t go our way.

On QMU’s comeback, Jeremy said “QMU fought their way back and we just couldn’t get momentum swing back our way. Moments like that, where we have to face adversity, is only going to help us grow stronger.”

Next Fixture

Despite losing the game, the team must bounce back and turn their attention to Sunday’s fixture against the Greenwich Mariners who are 0-2 for the season. Last season’s fixtures against Greenwich saw each team winning one game each, however the East London side will look to gain revenge for the 0-30 humiliation they suffered early last year.

When asked about their opponents on Sunday, Jeremy said “Greenwich is a tough squad and we are expecting a good battle. As a team, we are excited to have another opportunity and ready to bounce back this Sunday.”

A win for UEL will take them 2-1 on the season and joint top if Queen Mary University lose their game.
