Tom Reeves reports on the winners of the Indoor Cricket League in his latest round-up…

Newham College confirmed their victory of the Essex CCB/UEL Indoor League trophy in the latest round of fixtures.

Newham, who will receive the trophy on Wednesday 1st April, sealed the competition win by beating Hackney Community College by five wickets.

Hackney batted first and lost their final wicket on the last ball of their 10 allocated overs.

Captain Hassan Ahmed (28) and Soyfur Rahman (15) reached double figures, while Hamza Omar (2-19) ended with the best bowling figures.

Newham lost just the single wicket in their run chase and reached the target of 85 with exactly two overs left.

Mujakkir Hussain (0) was the only man dismissed, as Muhammad Rahim and M Kaffurudeen (both 7) were the two not out batsmen to see them home to glory.

Hackney Community College’s miserable afternoon was complete when they also lost to George Monoux College.

Hackney batted first, reaching 74 all out with Mohammed Fahad (18), T George (15) and Rahman (14) the most notable contributors to the target.

However, just as they had done against Newham, Hackney struggled to take wickets and George Monoux sealed the victory with 11 balls to spare.

Meanwhile, Barking and Dagenham College beat BSix College by a comfortable 43 runs.

Barking and Dagenham posted a dangerous 106-4 from their 10 overs.

Abdul Rehman (33) and skipper Jakir Hussain (24) led the charge, while Rakib Ullah (1-20) did his best to peg them back.

In truth, BSix never looked likely to reach the total and fell some way short in the end.

Ullah’s (23) was the only real score of note, as good bowling from Rehman (1-14) and Jawad Khan (1-23) sealed the win for Barking and Dagenham.
