Seriously, London is set to become Nerd City this summer, according to Callum Crumlish.

Nerd culture has become quite the money-making phenomenon in the past 10-15 years. As a result, comic conventions and geeky gatherings have MARVELously migrated into mighty mega-convention centres, many of which are located in none other than the world capital of culture – London.

So hold on to your capes, as I list the four best events happening this summer. But be warned: if you delay, the tickets may be gone in a FLASH!

  1. MCM London Comic Con

The bi-annual Comic Convention is back and bigger than ever! Now encompassing the entirety of London’s ExCel, MCM Expo is your one-stop shop for everything nerdy. From vintage comics, video games and action figures, to conferences, anime, celebrities, talks and live eSports, MCM has enough to attract cautious newcomers and hardened veterans alike. MCM London Comic Con 22nd – 24th May at London’s ExCel.

  1. Hyper Japan Festival

Hyper Japan is another bi-annual convention, this time tightly focused on Japanese culture. London’s O2 will be crammed full of Japanese food, drink, alcohol, anime, clothing and entertainment. The festival also features the first UK performances from Dempagumi.Inc and Tokyo Girls Style. Hyper Japan 10th – 12th July at The O2, London.

  1. London Film and Comic Con

London’s Film and Comic Convention is due to return with another Hulking line-up of film and comic celebrities. This year’s theme is Back to the Future, and the surviving cast of this timeless film will attend the convention to meet and greet fans. London Film and Comic Con 17th – 19th July at London’s Olympia.

  1. London Comic Mart

The Comic Mart is coming back to central London for a summer season. Boasting thousands of Gold and Silver age comic books to peruse and purchase, and free entry after midday, you’d have to be Dr. Strange to miss out. London’s Comic Mart: 3rd May, 7th June, and 5th July at The Royal National Hotel, London.
