UEL Hockey Hopeful Ahead Of UCL Clash

Teri Dormer previews the upcoming Hockey match between University of East London Men’s Hockey 1st team and bottom of the table London University of College London 6th (RUMS) this Wednesday 15th November

UEL men’s hockey returned to the North-East London Tier 5 league after last week’s 9-1 cup game defeat. The boys are excited to be playing in the comfort of their home ground at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

These two teams haven’t crossed paths yet this season but UEL, who are so far undefeated in the league, are optimistic about Wednesdays’ match.

Captain of the team and defensive midfielder Isaac Charles is keen for the blues to secure a win after a string of draws so far this season,  “Wednesday will be a big game for us, it will be a great chance to steal some points and give us our first win of the season.”

Current Form

UEL are currently sat in second position in the BUCS league, having only played two games and drawing both matches, they have two points and zero goal difference.

However, UCL are bottom of the table playing only one game which they lost 11-0 against top of the table, City University London.

Team Preparation

This season UEL haven’t had their full squad at all times, with key players out of action. This means the pressure to deliver a good performance injury-free  is high. Defender Tim Li believes the team is good enough and ready for a win, “The team is more confident on the ball this year so I think we’re going to put on a good performance this Wednesday.”

Li added, “We are learning from what went from the last game and keep focusing on the fundamentals, the boys are working hard together so hopefully we’ll come out of the game being on the better side”.
