Rudimental and Sophisticated At The Same Time

This band’s social media presence is far from rudimentary, notes Emma Brand.

Rudimental

The social media accounts for the East London drum and bass band, Rudimental, feature lots of videos from their recent shows.

They have also been posting inspirational and motivational quotes to their 526k followers, including suggestions such as, “If everything is moving at 100 mph. Take a step back & reset! Life is for living!” and “Nothing beats training. Clears the mind & increases the musical creativity!”

Rudimental recently pinned a Tweet at the top of their Twitter account promoting their US tour, “Hyped to be heading Stateside with our bros ‪@GorgonCity!! Tickets on sale now! ‪http://WWW.RUDIXGORGON.COM”

The group is clearly proud of where they come from, mentioning one of their local papers, the Islington Gazette. “Yo check this out 9 year old rapper vibes and good friend so proud of ‪@MusicByShanny Is the islington gazette”.

As well as having a band account, @RudimentalUK, three band members also have individual accounts, @Locksmith, @KesiUK and @PiersRudimental.

They use these separate accounts to express more of their individual personalities. Locksmith is using his to Tweet about football: “Season is over!”  “Need Leicester & Tottenham (Scum) 2 loose tomorra”. Don’t think it quite happened like that!

Piers tweeted on 17 January saying “Oi I swear I’m gonna start proper tweeting soon trust me”, and his account hasn’t been used since.

Must be following advice to ‘take a step back & reset’.
