Photographer JD Tagle introduces the work of fashion designer Khola Malik.
The coat and dress featured here are from Khola’s 2014 Movement collection, made of jersey and sandwash silk, and inspired by waves of wind and water. Khola strives to ensure that her clothes feel good to the women wearing them, so that ‘no matter where the wind takes you, you’re in control.’
On this shoot – the daytime shots were done on a rooftop in East London – we nearly lost out to the wind, which was making things difficult for both the model and me. Until I realised that we should use the wind as part of the set – to blow with the flow and show Khola’s designs to best advantage.
They really are ready for the wind.
