If you were travelling via Bromley-By-Bow London Underground station on 18th February you may have recognised a familiar voice making the announcements.

EastEnders actor Danny Dyer took control of the tannoy as part of the thirtieth anniversary celebrations for the BBC soap opera set in East London.

Dyer, who plays Mick Carter, landlord of the Queen Vic, informed commuters of the ‘right pukka service running on all London Underground lines’, and was heard asking travelers to ‘stand back, away from them closing doors, you’re making my nerves bad.’

He also warned fare dodgers: ‘make sure you’ve got a ticket about ya, don’t try and jump the barriers ‘cause I swear you will get nicked.’

Bromley-By-Bow was chosen because the fictional Walford East station occupies its place whenever a Tube map is featured on the long-running TV show. Martin Voller
