Romford Face Tough Test

Dimarli Morrison-Facer previews Romford’s make or break game in the Ryman Division One North…

In the all Essex derby, Romford will face the in-form Maldon & Tiptree at Ship Lane at the weekend.

Paul Martin’s side currently sit 19th in the Ryman North table, five points above the relegation zone.

The visitors, Maldon & Tiptree sit 11th and go into the match unbeaten in their last five matches. Without a loss since the beginning of February, Maldon have picked up seven points out of a possible nine in their last three outings.

Romford will be without their key marksman Chinedu McKenzie, after he was snapped up by Conference Premier side Bromley FC. The Boro will now be relying on Nick Reynolds to be their main attacking threat, to push them away from the drop zone and close the gap between their opponents.

Maldon will hope midfielder Darren McQueen can continue his run of form this season. McQueen has scored two goals in his last three matches, with a total of 14 goals in 35 appearances this season.

In the Boro’s last three matches they have scored eight goals and conceded just four, but have only recorded one victory, one draw and one loss.

Steve Ball’s side have the edge in recent encounters, having won all three previous matches scoring seven goals and conceding only two.

Last time the two sides met in September, Maldon came away with the points after a 3-1 victory, as Romford will look to avenge their earlier defeat.

With both sides in dire need of points for different reasons, this encounter will sure to be competitive and full of action.
