Romford Look to Bounce Back

Dimarli Morrison-Facer previews Romford's forthcoming derby day fixture.

After a disappointing 1-0 away defeat to play-off hopefuls AFC Hornchurch, Paul Martin’s men welcome 13th-placed Witham Town to Ship Lane in an all-Essex clash.

Statistics

Romford currently sit 16th in the Ryman North division table, with 10 wins, nine draws and 15 loses. Witham share a similar record and are only three places above Romford in 13th, with 11 wins, 10 draws and 13 defeats. The last three encounters between Romford and Witham Town have produced one win for each side and a score draw.

Romford has won two matches out of their last five games, whilst Witham has only managed one win their last five matches.

Key Men

Romford’s top goal-scorer Chinedu McKenzie has scored 26 goals and registered 11 assists in 42 games this campaign, and considering McKenzie was benched for striker Nick Reynolds in the 1-0 defeat to Hornchurch, it’s likely he will be restored to the starting 11.

Witham will look to striker and ex-Arsenal Schoolboy Timothy Monsheju to score the goals required to leave Ship Lane with three points. Monsheju has scored 15 goals in 39 appearances, with three goals coming in his last four games.

Witham are perhaps favourite heading into the tie as they have won the reverse fixture in October 2-0, but after two consecutive defeats, Romford will be looking to bounce back with a positive result.
