Rudimental Reach Out To The Cheap Seats

When Rudimental got the whole arena rocking, Emma Brand joined in with the best of them.

You might assume that being in the front seats at a concert would make it a better experience. Not when it comes to Rudimental. Earlier this month the East London group transformed the O2 arena into one massive nightclub with their superb show. Even sat at the back in the cheapest seats, we felt the incredible atmosphere which took hold of the entire venue.

The show stared with the vocalists and multi-instrumentalists parading onto the stage in front of 20,000 excited fans – accompanied by multi-coloured smoke and flickering strobe lights.

A predictable routine? Yes. Equally predictable were the calls from the stage to put our hands in the air, jump up and down and make some noise. I wasn’t expecting such a strong response, however. Almost immediately, we were all on our feet, enjoying the show.

It felt so good I remember thinking it was all going too fast. But it also occurred to me that many of their songs would be even better suited to a summer festival. On the other hand, perhaps Rudimental’s summertime feel was even more welcome on a grey day in East London when Spring was not yet sprung.

The drum’n’bass band is made up of Piers Aggett, Amir Amor, Kesi Dryden and Leon Rolle. Their second album We the Generation was released in October 2015.

They have helped other artists such as Ella Eyre, Sinead Harnett and MNEK get into the spotlight, and they have enjoyed successful collaborations with Ed Sheeran and John Newman.

Confetti rained down at the end. The show was a success and everyone had a great time.
