Rugby Preview: University of East London vs Queen Mary

Sports reporter, Teri Dormer looks ahead to a fiery game at Memorial Park between UEL first team and Queen Mary's third team.

Despite a good start to their season this Wednesday’s 2pm game will be a tough test for the UEL squad as they take on an unbeaten Queen Mary’s team.

However second row player for UEL, Alexander Allman is optimistic the east London side can get a good result, “Everyone goes into a game expecting to win as long as we bring the same intensity as we did in the Essex game we should do well.”

Confidence is running high for the East London’s team having won their past two games, but Allman is aware that they have to make a positive from the first kick, “We as a team need to switch on from the start.”

East London managed to pull through with the victory last week after being two points behind and not playing on their top form in the first half, but Allman knows that they can’t take any chances at home and need to have one hundred percent concentration, “I feel that we can’t make the same mistake against UAL.”

Queen Mary’s have remained unbeaten since the start of new season so a challenging game lies ahead, but Allman believes UEL can knock them off their stride if they stick to their plan, “As long as we play our game it should work out.”

No serious injuries have occurred recently for UEL which makes the team confident and determined to win with a full squad. UEL top players to look out for this upcoming match are Charlie Wilson, Brockley Nelson and Mustafa Rafique.
