Sebastian Liggenstorfer sums up Orient’s busy January transfer business.

Leyton Orient had a busy January transfer window making no less than seven signings.

Arguably the most important addition came on January 21, when the club announced the appointment of Kevin Nolan as player-manager on a two-and-a-half-year deal.

The 33-year-old midfielder started his career at Bolton before he moved to Newcastle in 2009, and following two seasons with the Magpies he moved to West Ham in 2011, where he enjoyed four successful seasons. He left the Hammers last August and was without a club until taking his first steps into management with Orient.

Here is a rundown of the O’s other January deals:

Calaum Jahraldo-Martin

The O’s first signing of the winter transfer window was to bring in winger Calaum Jahraldo-Martin on loan from Hull City on January 2.

Jahraldo-Martin initially joined on a one-month loan, but following several impressive displays and a first senior goal in the 2-0 victory at Wycombe Wanderers, the 22-year-old extended his stay until the end of the season on the final day of the transfer window.

Nigel Atangana

The O’s first permanent signing of the transfer window was announced on January 20, when Nigel Atangana joined from Portsmouth.

The French central midfielder signed for an undisclosed fee, starting his career in his home nation before joining National League side Havant & Waterloovile in 2013, before securing a move to Portsmouth a year later.

Atangana, 26, has settled straight into the side – starting all three fixtures since his arrival.

Armand Gnanduillet

Two days later the O’s then completed the signing of striker Armand Gnanduillet from Chesterfield for an undisclosed fee.

The 23-year-old striker from the Ivory Coast started his career at French side AC Le Havre B, and spent one season at AS Poissy before joining Chesterfield on a free transfer in 2013.

During his three years with the Spireites, the striker had spells on loan at Tranmere Rovers, Oxford United and more recently Stevenage – where he scored twice in a 2-2 draw with Orient on January 2.

Gnanduillet signed a two-and-a-half-year contract with the O’s and scored his first goal for the club in their 3-1 home defeat to Cambridge United.

Shaun Brisley

With less than a week of the transfer window remaining Orient bolstered their defence with the loan signing of centre back Shaun Brisley from Peterborough on January 27.

Brisley, 25, started his career at Macclesfield before signing for Posh in 2012 where he was part of the side that won the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy at the end of the 2013-14 season.

The defender, who has amassed over 250 career appearances, had spent part of this season on loan at Northampton Town before suffering injury.

Nicky Hunt

The first of two deadline day signings, defender Nicky Hunt joined for an undisclosed fee from League Two rivals Mansfield Town. The 32-year-old penned a deal until the end of the season, though there is an option to extend for a further year.

The experienced right-back is no stranger to Nolan having played alongside him at Bolton Wanderers for nine years, before spells at Bristol City, Preston North End, Rotherham and Accrington Stanley.

Jerome Binnom-Williams

The O’s concluded their January transfer business by bringing in Jerome Binnom-Williams on loan from Crystal Palace until the end of the season.

Having seen Cole Kpekawa recalled by Queens Park Rangers earlier on in the day, Orient acted quickly to bring in Binnom-Williams until the end of the season.

The 20-year-old spent the first half of the season on loan at Burton Albion and can play both left-back or centre half.
