Sky Over Shoreditch

Emma Brand has been touched by the Sky Garden.

The Sky Garden, high above the hustle and bustle of hipster Brick Lane, has one of the best views of the city.

From the thirty-fifth floor of 20 Fenchurch Street, i.e. the Walkie Talkie building, there are stunning, 360-degree views of London. And even better, it’s free.

On one side, the Gherkin; on the opposite side, the Shard; and in between, the Tower of London and the Eye.

Down below, it’s all nitty-gritty graffiti. Up here, just a 10 minute walk away, there is a whole different panorama – to say nothing of the carefully kept plants in the roof garden itself.

There is also a choice of two restaurants: the Fenchurch Street Bar and Grill serves seafood, game and meat, while the Darwin Brasserie offers seasonal British cuisine.

Or you can go back down to the ground for Brick Lane’s culinary multi-mix.
