Snow Game for the Futsal Team

Dan Grimes reports as UEL's futsal game is cancelled as Essex are snowed in.

The University of East London first team saw their league clash with the University of Essex Men’s seconds called off due to the weather conditions at the weekend.

The heavy snowfall fall on Sunday morning may not have affected the indoor playing conditions, but it was deemed to have made Essex’s journey to East London too dangerous to make.

UEL player Will Semain expressed his disappointment at the postponement, but also recognises the reasoning for it.

“It’s a shame to have our game cancelled, but it’s understandable due to the adverse weather conditions, so we have no issue rescheduling the game.”

This decision leaves UEL with a game in hand on top-of-the-table Medway, who due to their 100% record this season, sit nine points clear of UEL.

Despite this, Semain remains optimistic. “We’re in a good position to excel after our Christmas break and hope a few results go our way to really challenge Medway.

‘Fit and Ready’

“We wish that everyone has a safe and enjoyable Christmas, and that they return fit and ready to make a run after Christmas.”

UEL will now await for the date of the rescheduled fixture at home to Essex, as they prepare for a strong second half of the season, with the aim of promotion in mind.
