Sead Dizdarevic previews a night of fights at the O2 Arena…

Matchroom Boxing has announced three fights that will take place in a spectacular night of boxing on the 30th May at the O2 Arena.

The three bouts that have been confirmed include two world title fights and one heavyweight clash. Kevin Mitchell (39-2-0) will take on Jorge Linares (38-3-0) for his WBC Lightweight title. This fight will be Linares’ first title defence since he knocked out Javier Prieto in December for the belt. Mitchell will hope to produce a similar performance as his eight-round stoppage victory against Daniel Estrada in the same venue to win the title.

The second confirmed fight pits Welshman Lee Selby against Russia’s Evgeny Gardovich for the Russians IBF World Featherweight title. Selby (20-1-0) returns to the O2 where his latest victory came in a ninth-round TKO win over Australian boxer Joel Bunker, while this will be Evengy Gardovich’s (19-0-1) fifth defence of his IBF crown.

The third fight confirmed for this star-studded event is the heavyweight fight that features Olympic gold medallist Anthony Joshua (10-0-0) taking on US boxer Kevin Johnson (29-6-1). This bout was originally meant to take place at the O2 Arena back on January 31st 2015 but was rescheduled due to Joshua suffering a back injury.

Further details about additional fights and ticket prices will be released at a later date.
