City Life In A Day: Lazy Afternoons In Shoreditch House

Emma Brand admits to being ‘obsessed’ with Hoxton’s hippest haunt. But she doesn’t mind if you, too, spend a luxurious afternoon there (just don’t turn up looking scruffy).

Part members’ only club, part boutique hotel, part…everything this girl wants, for a splendid afternoon I recommend you hit up Shoreditch House where the City meets the East End.

With a celebrity clientele that includes Harry Styles, Jennifer Aniston, Ellie Goulding and Ed Sheeran, no wonder it is such a hot spot.

The six-storey converted warehouse contains all manner of amenities, including multiple opportunities for celebrity spotting – as long as you are discreet about it.

Then there is food: a Mediterranean menu with Middle-Eastern influence is served in the Fifth Floor restaurant. The menu is modified daily but there is always the £8 lunch comprised of any two of their salads, sandwiches, pizzas and soups.

Meanwhile, the roof garden offers an Italian-inspired, deli-style menu featuring salads, pizza, pasta, salmon, lamb and pork.

The rooftop includes a pool, garden and an outdoor lounge.

Downstairs the Cowshed Spa offers treatments such as manicures, pedicures, massages, facials, waxing and body therapies.

Other amenities include a games room, a fitness centre, and meeting space.

I’ve been so many times even I must admit I’m obsessed with the place.

As far as I am concerned, it’s a venue which does everything right. Which means I am equally keen for me and my friends to look just right when we go there.

Ladies, here are my outfit recommendations for getting noticed:

For the Rooftop Pool there is a range of options. If you want to be a bit more covered when you are not in the pool then Mara Hoffman is perfect. The print and pop of neon on lightweight fabric means you can sit by the pool and still look good. For underneath, a Monki swimsuit is perfect for expressing your personality. Their street-style-meets-Scandi-chic design is a fun concept full of bright colours and lot of prints, so there will be something for everyone. Find my favourite here: http://www.asos.com

Nike is always a good choice, whether for swimming or the gym. The brand seems to dominate sportswear with a fresh, stylish approach and casual apparel. Nike collections have directional detail with a modern colour pallet that takes centre stage, but their garms are always comfortable with real durability.

Nike swimwear is also available from ASOS. Nike gym wear is available here:

For men, Hugo Boss swim shorts are made of a lightweight, quick drying fabric that is perfect whether you are going for a quick swim or a longer session. They are available in a range of different colours.

As well as doing sports wear for women, Nike also have a brilliant range for men. Here are the best bits to wear in the gym:

If you are spending an afternoon in an impressive place like Shoreditch House, this girl insists that the least you can do is dress to impress.

Otherwise, you can’t expect to get the time of day from me!
