The Title Decider

UEL Women’s Volleyball travel to Essex University in the final match of the regular season, where the league champions will be crowned. Anna Rota reports.

Both teams enter the match joint at the top of the table with 24 points. The Blues have proved to be a strong, confident side throughout the season, with just one loss posted against them last October, against Essex University. Since then, Essex have been in the top spot with UEL left chasing the leaders.

Finale

The teams’ outstanding performances will guarantee an interesting and thrilling season finale as they have been relentlessly battling each other to seal their supremacy.

Since the new coaching team have taken over the High-Performance programme at UEL, the team has continued to show their dominance with two 3-0 home wins.

Crucial

Head Coach, Jefferson Williams, has made it clear to his team how the season has come to a crucial end. A win for UEL will mean they leapfrog Essex to take the Premier South Title.

Williams observed The Blades during the festive period and is aware that ‘team unity and fight’ will be crucial to retain UEL’s title, but believes the Blues are more than capable of winning the league.

UEL are playing on February 15th against Essex Blades at University of Essex Sports Centre, Wivenhoe Park. A live stream will be available on the UEL Volleyball Facebook page. The action starts with UEL vs Essex men at 4:30, with the women’s match to follow.
