Titans Try to End Losing Streak

Rising East reporter Jahin Shamsuddin previews UEL's upcoming game against Anglia Ruskin Rhinos.

UEL Titans in action

It was yet another disappointing week for the UEL Titans as they suffered a secondconsecutive defeat against Queen Mary University, going down 23-13.

Problems

The problems keep mounting for the Titans as they now have backup Quarterback Daniel Hopkin starting due to an injury to the starting QB John Paul Argyriou, who could be out for the rest of the season. As well as problems in the QB position, the team also are without starting Running Back Paul Bannerman.

Rematch with Rhinos

With two defeats in a row, the Titans look to prevent a third as they face Anglia Ruskin University this Sunday at the East Ham Rugby Club. The Rhinos are currently third in the table with a win loss record of 3-2. They sit two positions ahead of the Titans who dropped down to fifth with the defeat against Queen Mary.

Anglia Ruskin have won their last two games in a row, defeating the University of Essex and Greenwich. The last meeting between Anglia Ruskin and the Titans in last year’s Varsity game ended in a defeat for UEL.

Keys for Success

Ahead of the game, QB Daniel Hopkin told Rising East, that they need to ‘correct the small errors’. He also spoke about the importance of the defence and how they need to improve against the opponents run game as that is something that they have struggled with. In terms of the offence, Hopkin stated that they need to ‘get off to a quick start and improve their run game’.

The morale within the team is optimistic and they are looking forward to get back to winning ways.
