League leaders UEL men return to action this Wednesday when they welcome the University of Hertfordshire to Hackney Marshes in the BUCS South Eastern 1A league.

The Blues are hoping to extend their impressive unbeaten run to five games after they easily dispatched second-from-bottom University of Sussex, 4-1, last Wednesday

Team News

UEL will continue to be without winger and key man Liam MacDevitt, as he is still recovering from a thigh injury, that kept him out of the squad last week against Sussex. Speaking to Rising East, coach Ryan Gordon gave the latest team news ahead of a tough test against rivals Hertfordshire.

“We are missing Liam, however, Zivonomir Lopes and Dyron Suazo return from injury which is a huge boost to the squad”.

Momentum and Mental Strength

Turning to the game itself, coach Gordon praised his team’s mental strength as well as their extraordinary motivation, even though the team struggled with relegation last season.

“We have a winning momentum and are motivated to do well. Our greatest strength is the unity in the team and the work ethic individually and collectively to achieve our goals”.

It will prove to be a difficult game for the home side, as the visitors have been the only side to topple UEL in the current campaign, coming out 2-1 winners when the sides met in early October.

However, since the opening day defeat UEL have gone from strength to strength picking up four wins consecutive wins. Meanwhile the win for Hertfordshire is their only win so far this season and will be looking for a repeat performance against the leaders to see a return to form.
